Large Crawler Crane Collapse in Italy.

A large lattice crawler crane has overturned this evening near Arcisate Varese in Northern Italy.

The crane, owned by Vernazza, was rigged with a back mast and suspended superlift counterweight was lifting a large section of a new viaduct at the Arcisate Stabio railway yards, near Varese when it appeared to the rear of the tracks came off the ground and after seeming be on the point of balance for a while before it finally lost stability and overturned dumping its load.

This Crawler crane being used to build a section of aquaduct in Italy collapsed on Tuesday. Fortunately no one was injured.

We understand that the operator managed to jump clear as the crane went over and is uninjured and that no one else was caught up in the incident. If so then this is extremely fortunate.
